My experience and probably the same experience as almost all spine surgeons who have taken care of patients with low back pain is that the overwhelming majority of patients don't have an anatomical pathological condition; they have a disuse, misuse problem. Once General Practitioners have ruled out the patient has a significant pathology, they can do that patient a tremendous favor by sending them to an Alexander Teacher. This is a modality that has tremendous efficiency, is non-invasive, now has evidence based medicine supporting it and has high efficacy. So I'm hoping that more and more individuals who fulfill the criterion (identified in the interview) seek out the Alexander Technique, because I believe that they will truly benefit and be satisfied with the outcome.
